How To Prepare For An Exam
• Do not drink, eat or consume anything by mouth for 6 to 7 hours before your appointment
• Do not chew gum before or during your ultrasound
• If you're taking prescribed medications, you may continue taking these as usual with water
• Do not drink, eat or consume anything by mouth for 4 hours before your appointment.
• Do not drink, eat or consume anything by mouth for 6 to 7 hours before your appointment
• One hour before your appointment, consume 4 glasses (1 litre) of water, and do not empty your bladder
*This ultrasound cannot be performed unless your bladder is full
• 1 hour before your appointment, consume 4 glasses (1 litre) of water, and do not empty your bladder
• Eat and drink before your examination as usual

• No exam prep is required before this ultrasound unless you’ve been scheduled for an abdominal aorta ultrasound (see instructions above)

How To Prepare for an X-Ray
To ensure your appointment goes as smoothly as possible, be sure to avoid wearing any clothing that has zippers, snaps, buttons, or beads. Dress comfortably and remove any jewelry or watches prior to your visit.
X-rays aren’t always safe to perform during pregnancy. If you’re pregnant or think you might be, please inform our staff before scheduling your appointment.
