Getting Ready For Your Exam

• Do not drink, eat or consume anything by mouth for 6 to 7 hours before your appointment • Do not chew gum before or during your ultrasound • If you're taking prescribed medications, you may continue taking these as usual with water

• Do not drink, eat or consume anything by mouth for 4 hours before your appointment.

• Do not drink, eat or consume anything by mouth for 6 to 7 hours before your appointment • One hour before your appointment, consume 4 glasses (1 litre) of water, and do not empty your bladder *This ultrasound cannot be performed unless your bladder is full

• 1 hour before your appointment, consume 4 glasses (1 litre) of water, and do not empty your bladder • Eat and drink before your examination as usual *This ultrasound cannot be performed unless your bladder is full

• No exam prep is required before this ultrasound unless you’ve been scheduled for an abdominal aorta ultrasound (see instructions above)
